Sherry Gordon --TOP WEB BUSINESS/SUCCESS BUILDERS-- GREETINGS!This is Day One of six of the e-seminar you requested... What's the -best, most assured- way to succeed in affiliate programs, and in webmarketing in general? Following are "educated opinions"--from one who has wasted time on other things. ...In hopes that you won't have to. This e-seminar will be coming to you in a series of 6 messages, every other day.(If they stack up in your inbox, just read through them in order at your leisure.) It's set up to give the beginner an overview--a guide, rather than a detailed how-to...But experienced webmasters also find it useful to scan for tips, as well as to see what someone else deems "best"--i.e., most critical for the time-pressed.(That's as it stands today--next year, the list may look slightly different!) If you already had a large web portal, you probably wouldn't be reading this, with your success already achieved. And if you had a staff at your disposal, your business could afford to engage in a lot more activities without any one person burning out...You probably wouldn't be looking for such information either.(Besides, the -business- might have burned out if you were spending lots of money on personnel!) I'm thinking from the perspective of the small web business, especially the frugal "bootstrapped" business...And how to help you succeed where others fail.(Or where others take too long to succeed, fiddling with a lot of stuff that isn't on the lists you'll see next.) And who am I?Not a "Guru"!Someone who has spent a couple of years "putting myself through web school". ...Stumbling through with a lack of information or too much conflicting information. ..Reading a bunch of Guru e-zines and marketing books. ..Groping toward an understanding of what works and what isn't worth spending the time on. ...Setting up (and taking down) websites, trying things out; persevering. ..Thinking about it all. ...Currently concentrating on three websites, two of them about marketing: http://www.AffiliatePrimer.com and http://www.ThinkJointVenture.com.(Well, and various related endeavors.) ...And hoping to spare others some of the pain attendant on doing it alone! We'll begin that sortie with a mini table of contents for what is to come... --TOP WEB BUSINESS/SUCCESS BUILDERS-- THE PROGRESSION: 1.Starting with a populous, in-need, and willing-to-pay niche market that isn’t saturated by other webmarketers (and that you can enjoy) 2.A powerful, "hands-off" website -- to free up your time for more business building 3.Great website set-up and copywriting 4.Well-targeted keywords -- for great content, better search engine placement, and to cast a wider net for websurfers 5.Getting links in to your site -- for more traffic and better search engine placement 6.Automating everything in sight! -- to free up your time for more business building and enjoyment of life 7.Adding in some (more and more?) of THE NOTABLE EXTRAS (see below...) 8.Focusing -- economizing -- persevering -- and intensifying 9.Testing your results for the greatest profit potential 10. Thinking creatively, experimenting, and being ready to flex and innovate ---------- THE NOTABLE EXTRAS (in no particular order): 1.Joining affiliate programs -- and going for the easiest money 2.Your own e-zine -- to establish a relationship with your visitors, for repeated chances to sell/pre-sell, and to build your reputation and reach 3.An auto-responder course -- to establish a relationship with your visitors, and for repeated, leisurely chances to sell/ pre-sell 4.E-books -- free (viral marketing) and/or to sell 5.Starting your own affiliate program -- branding (and selling) like crazy 6.Submitting to pay-per-click search engines -- the best bang for the buck 7.Having a back-end product/s to follow up with 8.Marketing to other countries &/or in other languages 9.Being open to offline marketing avenues of all kinds 10. Joint venturing with others, both online and off ---------- On to the first two topics of The Progression... 1.START WITH A POPULOUS, IN-NEED, AND WILLING-TO-PAY NICHE MARKET THAT ISN'T SATURATED BY OTHER WEBMARKETERS (AND THAT YOU CAN ENJOY)...And if there are hordes of those folks waiting in the wings offline, too, so much the better! ..That's setting yourself up for success--pulling together -all- of the strings into a strong cord that can really haul.Look for: ---Lots of people looking around online in your sphere... ---People with powerful needs and wants, problems to solve (and that you can easily solve/cater to)... ---Who are willing/able to pay more than a pittance for solutions... ---And who aren't already being catered to by many other marketers--that's best; but at least, who aren't being catered to -in the same way-... ---A topic you can really sink your teeth into, in providing a wealth of information (whether that be on many pages or a few), and perhaps in being fascinated with the marketing process-- something that will give you staying power over the long haul... ---Then, people "waiting in the wings" offline, with similar characteristics, who you can woo in other ways. Okay, so this means...No more generic webmarketing sites, please!Sure, people are looking around for that. And what they're finding is same old, same old everywhere they go... That's not a recipe for success! If you're starting pretty much from scratch, you can get this dynamite combination of factors in your sights before you go ahead with a website. ...For help with brainstorming on such a target market--good for you, good for them--take the free "Affiliate Masters" e-course...Send a blank e-mail message to: mailto:tamsgranite@sitesell.net. ...Potent stuff (for more reasons than this). If you've already got a website?Nothing is set in stone-- nothing -can- be, on the ever-evolving web!If you're missing some of those set-up-for-success factors, see what you can do to work them in...Move your target a bit. ...Or drop that first effort and start over.(I did that.)"Affiliate Masters" might give you some ideas along those lines too: mailto:tamsgranite@sitesell.net. When you're in a hurry to get somewhere, it makes sense to move down the paved highway and avoid the bumpy roads that might lead nowhere. ---------- 2.A POWERFUL, "HANDS-OFF" WEBSITE -- to free up your time for more business building Think of all the time (and money) you could save if... ---You, if a beginner, didn't run the risk of how-to-do- everything overload...And you could just focus on the main point--making your website be what your target market needs. ---You could avoid even having to learn HTML, or using a WYSIWYG editor.(Or you could just copy some fancy HTML to a page on the webhost's site, as you prefer.) ---You didn't have to worry about who your "techie" was going to be. ---You were guided through the steps of setting up a website designed to draw the attention of the search engines...With keyword-focused pages rich in content, the most useful meta tags, and the right ratio of keywords to the page. ---You had expert help in coming up with the most applicable and -profitable- keywords for your site. ---Your webhost registered your selected domain name for you, and it was even included in the cost of the webhosting service. ---You didn't have to submit your new, or changed, or suddenly- dropped-from-sight webpages to all the major search engines because your webhost did that automatically, in the way that each SE responds to best. ---You could store your affiliate links and your own images with the webhost and easily plug them into any page on your site. ---You had at your fingertips all the most critical webpage traffic statistics to show you how you're doing. ...Including per-link stats that are so important for affiliates. ---You could research keywords and easily submit to pay-per-click search engines through your own account on your webhost's site. ---You could manage your e-zine right from your webhosting account. ---You could take credit cards on your site, even if you couldn't qualify for (or afford) a merchant credit card account. ---You could easily offer an e-book download (password-locked, if you like) from your site. In case you didn't know, that was pie-in-the-sky not many months ago. Most of those things you could only do by signing up (and paying) for a bunch of different services or software; some you couldn't do at all. Now, they're all available in one convenient, and revolutionary, package.(Well, the last item in the list is coming soon--all the others are available to you right now.) Yes, this is a plug for a particular webhosting service--because I'm convinced that it's a truly outstanding product...One that offers so many benefits at once, that I don't hesitate to recommend to any webmaster that they seriously take a look at what it can do for them. ..."Site Build It!", from http://buildit.sitesell.com/granite.html. (If another service like this comes along, I recommend you go ahead and look at that one too. ...So far, SBI seems to be one of a kind. And considering SiteSell's commitment to excellence, it's likely that it will remain out in the lead even when knock- offs follow.) WHAT MAKES THIS ISSUE SO VITAL?--WHY NOT JUST, "GET A GOOD WEBHOST"? I don't recommend a product (or an affiliate program) without researching it pretty darned thoroughly.I'm "not a Guru"--the only reason you should take what I say seriously is because I "do my homework". And I've -really- done my homework on Site Build It (let me lose the official exclamation point from now on, so you know when -I'm- being enthusiastic)...I use it myself for 3 websites.I'm -very- impressed, and getting only moreso as the stream of ever- improving features rolls out (at no greater cost to me!). Yes, there are lots of "good webhosts" around. And no, SBI doesn't do -every single thing- anyone might like a website to do. You can only choose from an assortment of pre-set graphical styles, for instance.(Though it does a whole lot--certainly all the basics, and then some--and more and more all the time!)But its real power lies in three things... One:In its focus on developing great content-rich websites... Those are what the SEs give precedence to, and what most websurfers crave. Two:In its recognition that the free SEs aren't the all- powerful web business builders that they once were...Hence SBI's multi-pronged aim, including pay-per-clicks, e-zines, e-commerce, and statistics to help you track the effects of what you do. Three:In jumping ahead to #6, "Automating Everything in Sight -- To Free Up Your Time for More Business Building and Enjoyment of Life...That's absolutely key in avoiding burnout and achieving success.(Even those successful 2-page websites you hear about don't really stand alone--they're supported by e-zines, affiliate programs, all kinds of ads, etc. ...And the most successful people know best how automation can keep you out of the loony bin!) Even if you already have a "good webhost", you might be interested in checking into the Site Build It package...For the relative ease it can bring into your life, and for the power of its high-tech features.I switched; it made too much sense to pass it up.See what you think: http://buildit.sitesell.com/granite.html Besides, SiteSell is -giving away- 2 whole -years- of Site Build It! webhosting in a monthly sweepstakes!...See if you can win:http://sweeps.sitesell.com/granite.html ---------- That'll be it for this first segment. In the next day of the seminar, we'll look at the next two items in The Progression list... 3.Great website set-up and copywriting 4.Well-targeted keywords See you then!
